My Favorite: William

Thank you William for coming into my classroom every Friday and spending time with my kids.
Thank you for bringing comics into the world of 6th graders.
Thank you for enriching the lives of the twenty-three 6th graders who I love and adore.
Thank you for creating monster stuffed animals and bringing them in to show my class.
Thank you for creating crazy bonus questions on their spelling test.
"If you could draw any monster what would it look like?"

Thank you for loving me the way you do. Thank you for making me smile. Thank you for telling me I am beautiful even on the really hard days. Thank you for being my biggest fan.

Thank you Will, you are my favorite.

My Favorites

This year my class is a blessing in my life.
They make me smile, they make me happy on the cloudiest days, they know how to totally get me off topic when I am teaching, they know what to say when I am getting upset at them, they really are my saving grace this school year.
Thank you Mrs. Strong's Class of 2010 - you are truly one of a kind!

I know that you are not supposed to have a favorite class but...all rules are meant to be broken right?

California Orange Dreaming

The last month has gone by so fast that I have not even had time to sit down and post some really happy moments.
Will and I traveled to California over President's Day Holiday Weekend. We only told Rebecca we were coming so the whole trip was a huge SURPRISE to everyone. It was such a wonderful weekend and just what the doctor ordered for Will and I. We both honestly can't wait to live in California on a permanent basis.

I also learned over this trip what a true California Orange tastes like. And now I am addicted and consider myself an Orange snob! I never have liked oranges, but right fresh off the tree, you have to be a crazy person not to enjoy their sweet smooth wonderful taste.

Billy Joel and Elton John

A night that will NEVER be forgotten.
(Never - I got the program, shirt, and poster)

February 19th, 2010 7:30pm to 11pm Billy Joel and Elton John performed at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City their Face-2-Face tour.
Billy Joel and Elton John played together for 3 hours of musical amazement.

Will and I were there along with our great friends Jake and Kat Wyatt.
History:
I have been an avid fan of Billy Joel since I was a small Zygote in my Mama's tummy. My mom and dad would have his music playing near my mom's belly while she was pregnant with me. The obsession with Billy Joel continued to high school and then onto college. I listened to Billy Joel to escape life, to get myself ready for a track meet, to sooth myself asleep at night, to teach my students the importance of rock-n-roll, and to honestly just smile. I LOVE his music.

I was overwhelmed with emotion when Billy Joel came out on stage. I cried, I laughed, I sang, I hugged Will all night, I danced, and jumped sky high when he played "We didn't start the Fire!"

Elton John also performed and he was unbelievable. It was flashy and over-the-top excitement to see him with his multiple wardrobe changes, his red star sun glasses, and his ability to awe an audience. He played ALL the classics in style and pizazz. He truly is "SIR" Elton John.

It was the best night and I am honored that I got to be in the presence of my life long musical hero. It was amazing!

Enjoy the Video - it give you just a taste of the pure joy I felt all night long. If you listen close you can hear Will and I singing along!

The Princeton Medical Center Radiation Oncology Center where my mom worked for over 20 years had this plaque made in her honor.

The Strong's as Celebrities

Introducing the STRONG's - Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) and Jennifer Gardner as played as the couple in JUNO.
It is a facebook thing - everyone is changing their profile pictures to who they think their celebrity look alike is.
Two of our favorite actors - one great movie!

My husband is pretty amazing

This past weekend Will sat on our living room floor and created this creature. At first I was confused on what exactly he was doing...but then I need to remind myself every once in a while - I married an artist.
