A night to remember

On Friday November 20th at 7:30 pm I will be sitting in the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City watching and listening to THE BEST musician and piano man of all time.

Billy Joel...and oh yeah Elton John too.
I am going to their FACE 2 FACE tour concert!

"All I needed was a little faith so I could catch my breath
and face the world again."
- You're only Human, Billy Joel.

Life Time Dream come true - I can take it off my bucket list! More pictures to come after the concert.

Halloween and Such

A Little Dancing
Dancing is a favorite activity for my class this school year. "Jai Ho" from the Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack is their favorite song to dance to. Hopefully I can teach them the whole dance this year so they can show their moves at the Cotillion in May.
Will was taping them in "Secret" from the back of the room...they didn't realize it until the end of the tape, and that is a really cute moment.

HALLOWEEN 2009
Being in an elementary room for Halloween makes the Holiday 10 times better. It is Will's favorite time of year. He gets so excited for the big day. He has created some pretty amazing costumes over the year, so of course this year was another creative spell of great-ness. Will and I went as Waldo and Wenda from the Where's Waldo? books.
My students this year had some pretty amazing costumes as well.
Where's Wenda?
Bert and Ernie Have you ever seen a walking bathtub? Or Cyndi Lauper? Or a pretty witch and pirate?
Woman in Black
Napoleon Dynamite and Doctor Frankenstein
(Can you tell who has the famous father?)
We played the mummy game with toilet paper.
My class room not only became a party for the kids, but for the adults as well. Our good friends Jed and Tanei Henry came with their adorable baby Nohea (In the chicken costume). Kat Wyatt was there as a pirate. And then our friends Jake and Nikki Sanchez (Magician from previous post) came dressed as the Wii remote control, and their personal "Mii." It was awesome!

What's been going on?

Will and I have had a very busy last few weeks. School has been crazy for the both of us. My 6th graders have been a hand full, and Will has been doing so many projects for his classes. But there has been time for laughter, and for some magical fun.

Jed and Tanei Henry have the cutest baby, her name is Nohea. She loves all of my stuff animals, and more importantly loves Will. Who wouldn't?
The Henry family lives in the condo above us, and we love having them as neighbors. Jed is an animator/illustrator who graduated from BYU - you can look at his blog here.
CUTE BABY AWARD!*
Will and I love cucumbers.
But this particular cucumber was a Siamese Twin!
Isn't that crazy, it is two cucumbers in one!
*In the picture above of Nohea she was eating her first cucumber!
Jake Sanchez is a magician.
And a great person.
And a friend of ours.
He came and did magic for my class.
He embarrassed Ethan.
You see Ethan likes Bailey.
Bailey doesn't have a crush on Ethan.
But Ethan got to touch her hand.
Made his day.
Made my day to see Ethan so happy!
My class was crazy for magic!
It was Kate's birthday so of course she got a trick done especially for her!
I have never had my name in the marque - I wish it said something like "Mrs. Strong's 6th graders passed their end of year tests." That would ROCK!
So that is what's been going on!!

What a life a 6th grade girl has!

I have a great group of girls in my class this year. I am so lucky!
They are the type of girls who place note on my desk when I am upset with the whole class and tell me what a great job I am doing "taming the boys." They are just such good girls.
On Thursday I had all the girls in my class looking up information about Anne Frank. They are reading her Diary in their reading groups. At 11am we go out for recess! Usually a favorite activity, but today these girls wanted nothing more than to play with my computer, well more specifically play with PHOTO BOOTH.

Here is what playing with PHOTO BOOTH is all about:
